Home Visits

For DAYTIME VISITS ONLY (8.00am-6.30pm)

Our doctors typically see 4 patients in the practice in the time it takes to do a single home visit. For this reason, we ask our patients to come to the practice if at all possible. However, we can visit you at home if your condition means you cannot attend the practice.

Please telephone the surgery at which you are registered. Please do not ask the Doctor to call unless the patient is genuinely too ill to come to the surgery. If you do require a home visit, please try to telephone before 10.30am and give as many details as possible to our secretary. This will enable the Doctors to plan calls and deal with urgent visits promptly.

Urgent Appointments

Urgent cases are seen on the day. Urgent cases are those that require attention by a doctor on the same day, and cannot otherwise wait for a routine appointment. We aim to offer a routine appointment within 48 hours in most cases. Please note that the on-call doctor is dealing with serious medical complaints, and misusing this service could endanger other patients who are in need of a prompt consultation.

Patients on repeat prescriptions or those requiring ongoing services (i.e continual contraception) should pre-plan and arrange to see the doctor in a routine clinic. Please note that a trained nurse can assess and issue repeat contraceptive prescriptions at the treatment room reception.

Tell us if you are in a telephone box. Say immediately if your call is an emergency.

Early Morning and Saturday Morning Surgeries

We have designed surgery appointments in order to improve access for those who are unable to attend during the working hours. Every weekday morning we have GP appointments at both sites from 07:30 am. There is also a morning surgery at Glinton on Saturday morning. These extended appointments are only available by pre-booking. The Saturday surgery is for advance booked patients. No walk-in patients will be seen in this session.

Out of Hours

When the surgery is closed, there is a Health Care Professional on call for emergencies only.

Please ring your normal surgery number when you will receive details of how to contact the Out of Hours Emergency Care Centre.

Do not automatically expect a home visit as these are at the discretion of the Health Care Professional; you may be given telephone advice or asked to attend the Emergency Care Centre. You can contact the Emergency Care Centre on 0845 045 0281.
